This month’s spotlight is on Parkdale’s very own coffee shop (with a few surprises up their sleeve) a few doors down from our office at 1720 Queen St W.
The owner of EL Almacen Yerba Mate Cafe Silvio is from Argentina. While the coffee shop offers amazing coffee, it actually specializes in yerba maté which is a special type of tea filled with antioxidants and rich in flavour.
Stroll in to try yerba mate or stick to coffee but be sure try their in-house empanadas or if you have a sweet tooth, their alfajores!
Their cafe offers a super friendly atmosphere and you can make one pit stop to get a hot drink, a sweet or savoury snack or a full-on meal. El Almacen’s best surprise is their delicious homemade sandwiches. Try the spicy chicken one next time you’re in, then pop over and visit us in the Fox Den!
