Alexandra Cote

Working as a licensed realtor since 2014, Alexandra Cote is committed to prioritizing her clients’ needs and helping them reach their real estate goals. Voted best realtor in Toronto in NOW Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards since 2016, Alexandra also uses her skills as a certified professional life coach to help her truly connect and build supportive relationships with every single one of her clients.

Alexandra is passionate about affecting change in the real estate market in Toronto – she served as president of her condo board for 3 years, and has volunteered with the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board since 2015, working with the Government Relations and Affordable Housing Committees. Being involved in housing discussions at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels allows her to help influence positive change in housing policies.

She also founded a sub-committee focused on climate risk and the real estate market to help push these issues to the forefront. In an industry that’s inherently market focused, Alexandra values the importance of giving back to her community in significant, meaningful ways. As a member of the board of directors for the Parkdale Community Food Bank since 2018, Alexandra supports and advocates for residents in her community.

What’s the best part of your job?

It’s helping people and supporting them through what is often the most stressful and largest investment of their lives. When we get to that finish point, and it finally all comes together, it truly is a magical moment.

What are three things you can’t live without?

My family, mashed potatoes, and my cat Jupiter.

What is your favourite neighbourhood to explore in Toronto?

Parkdale! Toronto is a city of neighbourhoods and Parkdale has its own identity and a strong sense of community. The more time I spend here, the more I discover different parts of the community and how diverse and close-knit it is. It has so much character and so many stories to tell. There’s so much soul in Parkdale, I love it.

What’s a cause that’s important to you?

Affordable housing. I think it’s important to be involved in the conversation about how housing policy is evolving in our community, in the city and in the province. It’s really important to be focusing on creating more housing across the spectrum and creating more affordability in the city so it continues to be accessible.

What’s the best part of your job?

I love helping first-time home buyers go on this journey. I know it’s scary for them, but I understand what they’re going through. I’ve been there, too! I know the highs, like the excitement of the search and finding the property they love, and I also know the other side, like the heartache of losing on multiple offers and not getting the property you want.

What is the most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?

When I was younger I went to the airport, bought a ticket, called my Mum, and told her I’d see her in a bit.

What is your favourite neighbourhood to explore in Toronto?

I’m a west end girl for sure. I grew up in Bloor West Village, lived there for over 26 years, and I absolutely love it. South Etobicoke is also one of my favourite places in the city, so much so that I moved there.

What’s a cause that’s important to you?

I’m a supporter of Camp Bucko, a free camp program for burn survivors between the ages of 7-17. My cousin, who passed away last year, was a district chief with Toronto Fire Services, and a supporter of the camp. I continue supporting this cause in his name.

What’s the best part of your job?

Matching house to client and client to home is the absolute best part. The collaboration in between is the sugar on top.

What are three things you can’t live without?

I cannot live without yoga, my car, and espresso espresso espresso.

What’s a cause that’s important to you? Why?

I feel deeply about the need in our communities to help underprivileged children. I’ve worked in schools, and witnessed the impact the right programs can have.

What’s your idea of a perfect day?

Good coffee, a walk by the lake, and happy clients.

What’s the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is connecting with people and guiding them to figure out what they’re looking for. A lot of people start off thinking that they know what they want, but it’s an emotional journey, and they need someone who can help them define what it is they’re looking for and guide them towards getting it. Sometimes what people actually want is completely opposite of what they thought they wanted.

What is your favourite neighbourhood to explore in Toronto?

I like a lot of neighbourhoods in Toronto but a favourite is the Scarborough Bluffs. I love nature, and I love that it’s mixed into an urban area.

What’s a cause that’s important to you?

I’m on a government relations subcommittee through the Toronto Real Estate Board. Volunteering and giving back to my real estate community is important to me because I want to have opinions about how our organization is run and how I practice real estate. I think the best way to do that is to get involved and help with those decisions and those policies and help make our job better.

What inspired you to join the Fox Team?

I’ve known Alexandra since 2013 and we really do share core values. The way we practice real estate is very customer focused. It’s not about me, it’s about the client and their goals and helping them achieve those goals, and that’s what the Fox Team stands for.

What are 3 things you can’t live without?

Books, coffee, and the beach!

What is your favourite neighbourhood to explore in Toronto?

I love the Beaches! The houses all have so much personality and Queen Street East is so vibrant with so many cool and funky shops. There’s so much to explore and so much to discover. I also love how hilly the area is – very different compared to the rest of Toronto!

What’s a cause that’s important to you?

Women empowering women and more women becoming truly independent! Uplifting, encouraging and caring for one another can take us to new heights. We are so lucky to be born in a time where we are making so much progress and I want every woman out there to live her life boldly and fearlessly. We are so strong and so powerful and we can make anything happen – I dream to see more and more women living life on their own terms and to see more equality between men and women.

What’s your idea of a perfect day?

Anything that involves a mix of nature, learning and spending time with loved ones.

What inspired you to join the Fox Team?

Alex cares, it’s as simple as that. She’s involved in giving back and taking care of the community through her involvement in various government committees and the Parkdale Food Bank. The team’s core values align with my own, it was a no brainer for me!

What’s the best part of your job?

For me it’s building relationships with people – meeting them for the first time, getting to know them, hearing their story, learning about them…ultimately connecting with them and then being entrusted to help them through an important decision in their lives!
